This film explores the intriguing and often unsettling tradition of “Minghun,” or ghost marriage, within Chinese culture, creating a unique horror experience.

The narrative centers on Salim and Tasya, a couple planning their wedding. Their pre-wedding photoshoot takes an unexpected turn when Salim’s last remaining relative passes away, forcing him to return to his ancestral home in Central Java. Here, he must adhere to a mysterious family ritual involving daily offerings at an altar.

The film blends chilling horror with an exploration of Chinese cultural traditions, set against the atmospheric backdrop of a traditional Chinese-Indonesian home in Lasem, Central Java. “Pernikahan Arwah” was released in cinemas on February 27, 2025, delivering a captivating and spine-tingling cinematic experience.
